"Kıyıköy: a small village on the
Black Sea coast of Thrace!"
Kiyikoy is a
small village of Kirklareli. Its coastline with a
natural harbor offers an ideal shelter for the
fishermen. The city is on the high hills facing the
Black Sea. Fishing and forestry are very important for
the economy of the village. You enter the village
passing through a gate left from the Byzantine Period.
There are also remainings of a city wall. The city was
first called “Midye” (Mussel) by the Greek who lived on
fishing. Today it is called Kiyikoy and inhabited by the
Turkish people from Selanik. |
