"The Sleeping Beauty of Lycia, the
Land of Light"
There are no vast sandy
deserts in Turkey but there is one town that provided
the necessary atmosphere for all the Turkish film
productions that took place in a desert. It is
Patara….Patara was one of the six cities of the Lycian
League. It was a harbour city when first founded but now
it looks like an inland site. The Patara beach is the
longest sandy sea front in Turkey. This exceptional site
is also the breeding place for Caretta Caretta sea
turtle. All these qualities make Patara one of the most
distinguished protection areas of Turkey. |
